Introducing the Rules of Engagement

After months of revamping our website, we’re proud to introduce our new marketing public relations blog: The Rules of Engagement. Welcome to our first blog post.

Before sharing what we do, we’d like to introduce ourselves. Our team is led by Gary Conkling, and includes Ashley Sherrick, Suzie Giacomelli and Hannah Smith.

Ashley is our media relations maven, who is also well-versed in event planning and management. When not at work she enjoys cooking, yoga, blogging about her recent foodie experiences as well as trekking through the Pacific Northwest.

Suzie is a passionate event strategist and is also our go-to grammar goddess. On sunny days, she enjoys going on photography adventures and capturing images of natural beauty. Her background in dance instilled a lifelong passion for the performing arts. She loves coffee shops, good books and is an aspiring cook.

Hannah has a veracious appetite for information, and enjoys constantly learning how to use new media and communication technologies. She is an avid fan of all things Portland, including the city’s growing food cart scene.

Our team leader, Gary Conkling, is a co-founder of CFM and is its managing partner. He is our fountain of knowledge. Gary is an adjunct faculty member at Willamette University's Atkinson Graduate School of Management, teaching a course on crisis communications and issues management. An avid New York Yankees fan, Gary enjoys hiking, biking and the arts.

Together, we are a dynamic group of experienced public relations practitioners with a wide variety of skills. We’re creative storytellers focused on results. We use current techniques and tools grounded by a foundation of solid marketing principles. We specialize in integrated customer engagement, utilizing the right mix of tactics and resources in one coordinated effort.

We’ll be sharing our perspective on the latest communications trends, happenings, and ideas, and interpreting how they impact you.

This blog is a meeting place, the start of a conversation. We want to hear what you have to say. Leave your thoughts in the comments below. You can also subscribe to our newsletter to get weekly updates.
