Case Study: CFM blocks FAA plan to restrict Pearson Field
Federal Aviation Administration officials proposed an airspace restriction for Vancouver's Pearson Field that would have resulted in significant delays and safety issues for aircraft using the field, as well as Portland International Airport. The City of Vancouver and CFM had a mere 10 days to block the FAA regulation. CFM contacted airport stakeholders and fed information to the Washington and Oregon congressional delegations. Washington Senator Patty Murray led the effort to elevate local concerns to the highest levels within FAA. The agency convened a review panel, which at CFM's insistence included local stakeholders and experts. The review panel suggested some minor communications improvements, but vetoed the proposed regulations.
