Jessica Adamson, who recently joined CFM as part of its state lobby and public affairs teams, has been appointed to the Sherwood School Board. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Kevin Noreen, who is taking a new job in Hood River.
Adamson has served on the school district's budget committee and has three children enrolled in district schools. She also is active in the Sherwood Band Boosters Club and Sherwood Care of Kids Committee. One of her children is in high school and the other two attend elementary school.
“Jessica has been intimately involved in Sherwood Schools for the last eight years in everything from the bond campaign, to the budget committee and a key volunteer to many schools activities," said Board Chair Andy Pihl. "Her experience in the political process at the state level will also be an asset to our team in dealing our continuing financial challenges.”
In her letter applying for the school board vacancy, Adamson cited her experience as chief of staff in the 2011 and 2012 legislative sessions to House Co-Speaker Arnie Roblan, a role that deepened her knowledge about state school funding and state-level education policy.
She noted that working in a power-sharing environment with House control split at 30-30 convinced her that "good process leads to stronger outcomes, even when those outcomes may not be fully embraced by the whole community."
Adamson will be part of CFM's state lobby team that heads to Salem next year when the 2013 legislature convenes.
