Beom Soo “Joseph” Jung has been named a federal affairs intern for CFM’s office in Washington, D.C. He is a participant in the University of California D.C. program, where each school in the state system selects a certain number of students to send to the nation’s capital.
He will be a graduating senior from UC San Diego this June, with a bachelor’s degree in political science. During four years at UC San Diego, Joseph conducted two independent research projects – one on Russia’s oil politics in 2008 and the other on the Lisbon Treaty in 2009, which updated governance of the European Union.
In 2007, he had the opportunity to work with a Korean business based in Auburn-Opelika, Alabama, which is midway between the Hyundai Motor Co. manufacturing plant in Montgomery, Alabama and the Kia plant in West Point, Georgia.
There are more than 20 firms located in the area directly tied to the automakers. Joseph served as an interpreter [Korean and English] and a project supervisor.
After graduation, he plans to enter the US Air Force and eventually study international law.
CFM serves as a federal lobbyist in Washington for public and private sector clients located on the West Coast.
