Alison Santore (Ali) is Vice President of Federal Affairs at CFM Strategic Communications, a comprehensive, results-oriented federal lobbying firm providing services to clients in the public and private sectors.
Based in Washington, D.C., Ali came to CFM from the United States Senate where she served as a Legislative Assistant on the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, on behalf of Senator Gordon H. Smith (R-OR), during his tenure as both chairman and as ranking member. Ali also advised Senator Smith’s health and human services legislative agenda related to the Senate Finance Committee; the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee; and the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor-HHS-Education.
As a legislative assistant, Ali worked on legislation involving Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, health-related taxes, mental health parity, health professions, welfare programs, public health programs, the Food and Drug Administration, aging issues and regulation of health insurance.
Additionally, Ali possesses unique knowledge of the appropriations process and non-profit funding opportunities. While in Senator Smith’s office, Ali managed the distribution of earmark funding to Oregon entities statewide. Ali worked closely with key Appropriations Committee staff, as well as the administration, in this capacity. Ali maintains strong relationships not only with Members of Congress, but also Obama administration staff, including officials at the Departments of State, Justice, Education and Health and Human Services.
Ali currently serves as the head lobbyist for Providence Health and Services. Providence Health & Services is a multi-state, not-for-profit health system committed to providing comprehensive services to communities in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon and California. Providence includes 27 hospitals, more than 35
non-acute facilities, physician clinics, a health plan, a liberal arts university, a high school, approximately 49,000 employees and numerous other health, housing and educational services.
Ali graduated from the University of Oregon with degrees in political science and philosophy. Ali also is a member of the Washington D.C. Society of Young Professionals and she is on the board of the Oregon State Society. She resides in Old Town, Alexandria, VA with her husband, Mike, and daughter, Avery.
